More Indian motorcycles:
BACK IN THE LATE 1960s FLOYD CLYMER WAS LOOKING FOR WAYS TO RESURRECT THE DEFUNCT INDIAN BRAND. HE USED REBUILT INDIAN ENGINES FROM NEW-OLD STOCK, ENGINES FROM ROYAL ENFIELD, AND EVEN AN ENGINE FROM HOREX. A LITTLE KNOWN EXPERIMENT USED A NORTON ENGINE. PICTURED BELOW IS THE CLYMER-NORTON-INDIAN. SEVERAL DECADES AGO I WAS READING A STORY FROM A MAN WHO KNEW CLYMER AS A NON MOTORCYCLE BUSINESS FRIEND. HE APPROACHED CLYMER AND TOLD HIM THAT HIS SON HAD WRECKED HIS MOTORCYCLE AND ASKED IF CLYMER HAD AN OLD BIKE LAYING AROUND THAT HE COULD BUY FOR HIS SON. HE STATED THAT CLYMER POINTED TO THE NORTON-INDIAN AND OFFERED IT TO HIM, AND HE BOUGHT IT. I AM SURE THAT THE SON TOOK THE BIKE AND RAN IT TO DEATH. TO MY KNOWLEDGE IT HAS NEVER SURFACED. COULD THE READER ONLY GUESS WHAT THE BIKE WOULD BE WORTH TODAY IN THE "CLASSIC" BIKE MARKET? MY GUESS IS THAT CLYMER SOLD IT FOR VERY LITTLE. WHAT A LOSS AND WHAT A COOL BIKE!
The JACK DANIELS Indian Scout:
The 2018 Indian Scout Bobber was a special edition model which was a low production model. I have seen several and they are nice.
The new (2022) Dark Horse:
These are really good looking bikes in person.
Below is the 2022 "Pursuit" model.
The Indian Pursuit is an 1800cc, 122 horsepower, 6 speed super touring model. Expensive though a beautiful bike.
The Gilroy Chief with the new (at that time) Power Plus engine.
One of my favorite stripped down Chief's. Long, low, and it looks like a cruiser! Long live Indian.
1910 Indian replica built by Ray Quayle.
An event called "Indian Summer" was held on September 15of 2024 as a means of honoring the history of the Indian motorcycle brand. The picture above was the format for awards and magnetic vinyl plaques placed on every Indian motrorcycle which was present. The event will continue in 2025.
